The Lakewood Middle School Lady Mustangs had a strong start, winning both matches in their first Double Duel of the season and earning 2nd place out of 13 teams at the Salthawk Middle School Mixer. With multiple top finishes and hard-fought victories, the team is building momentum as they prepare for next week’s duels.
Lady Mustangs Wrestle Their Way to a Strong Start
The gym was loud as the Lakewood Middle School Lady Mustangs pinned their way to victory in their first Double Duel of the season. The team opened the 2026 season on January 20th, against Goddard Eisenhower, earning an impressive 77–25 win, and carried that momentum into their second matchup, defeating Valley Center 67–32. From the opening whistle to the final pin, the Lady Mustangs showed determination, strength, and teamwork on the mat. Way to battle, ladies!
The success continued on January 23 as they took to the road at the Salthawk Middle School Mixer, where Lakewood faced tough competition from 13 teams and finished an outstanding 2nd place 🥈 overall. The Mustangs brought home a full set of hardware from their brackets, including three 1st-place finishes 🥇🥇🥇, two 2nd-place finishes 🥈🥈, three 3rd-place finishes 🥉🥉🥉, and one 4th-place finish 🏅. Their performance reflected the hard work and dedication they’ve put in throughout the season.
With early victories and strong tournament results behind them, the Lady Mustangs are already setting their sights ahead. If this start is any indication, Lakewood girls wrestling is ready for an exciting run.
