Week 31
Adelaide Peterson
Adelaide is a seventh grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is involved in Scholar’s Bowl and Math Relays, and her favorite subject is art. Outside of school, Adelaide is a member of a bowling league, enjoys drawing and helps her mom take care of her siblings. After high school, she plans to pursue a career path that involves drawing and art. Some fun facts about Adelaide include that she has three cats and enjoys playing games with her family, especially with her brother.

Ryan Dupy
Ryan is a seventh grader at Lakewood Middle School. He is a member of the cross country team, the band and the Civics Club. Ryan enjoys all of his teachers and the staff at LMS, but his favorites are Mr. MacKinney, Mr. Zamora, Mr. Garretson, Miss Matthews, Mr. Ukena and Mr. Pakarato. Outside of school, he attends youth group and enjoys playing golf with his friends and family. After graduation, Ryan plans to attend the University of Kansas and play golf. After college, he would like to pursue a golf career on the PGA Tour or be involved in the sports world in another way. Some fun facts about him include that he has two younger siblings, he enjoys running and playing basketball and he loves cheering on the Chiefs, KU, and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Keaton Hopp
Keaton is a sixth grader at Lakewood Middle School. He is a member of the orchestra and plays the viola. At school, he looks forward to seeing his friends and learning new things that will help him in life. Outside of school, he stays active by playing soccer and basketball. After high school, Keaton plans to become a zookeeper. Some fun facts about him include that he has one brother, one dog and one guinea pig.

Roberto Lopez Galindo
Roberto is an eighth grader at Lakewood Middle School. He is a member of the track team, enjoys making new friends at school, likes learning new things and appreciates how kind and helpful his teachers are. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors. After high school, Roberto looks forward to pursuing an exciting career path that aligns with his interests. Some fun facts about him include that he is bilingual, speaking both English and Spanish and he has two sisters.

Kyson Griffin
Kyson is an eighth grader at Lakewood Middle School. He is a member of the tennis team, involved with math relays and a basketball manager. He appreciates how welcoming Lakewood is and how kind the teachers are, especially appreciating how they helped ease his nerves when he first came to LMS. Outside of school, he is involved in the Salina Youth Choir and in 4-H. After high school, Kyson plans to attend college and major in business management. Some fun facts about him include that he has three animals and four siblings.

Paige McDaniel
Paige is a sixth grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is a member of the band and plays the clarinet. While she doesn’t have a favorite teacher, because they’re all amazing, her favorite subject is math. She also looks forward to seeing her friends at school each day. Outside of school, Paige is involved in the Salina Youth Choir and plays the ukulele. After high school, she plans to attend college and pursue a career in finance. Some fun facts about her include that she has a passion for art and that she has a five year old English bulldog.

Katelyn Dreiling
Katelyn is a sixth grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is a member of the orchestra. Her favorite subject is P.E. because of the fun activities and games she gets to enjoy alongside her peers. After high school, Katelyn plans to become a hairstylist. Some fun facts about her include that she enjoys dancing as a hobby and has a dog named Roxy.

Jax Plumer
Jax is a seventh grader at Lakewood Middle School. He is on the football team, a member of the board game club, in orchestra and guitar. His favorite subjects are P.E. and orchestra—his favorite teacher is Mrs. Modin. Outside of school, Jax spends his time playing airsoft, soccer and football. After high school, he plans to become a pilot by attending Kansas State University or joining the Air Force. Some fun facts about Jax include that he is a middle child with one brother and one sister. He also has a German shepherd/black lab mix named Max.

Ava Bailey
Ava is an eighth grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is a member of the track team and loves the LMS community. She appreciates everyone’s kindness and uplifting attitudes. Ava’s favorite class is P.E., and while she likes all her teachers, her favorite is Mrs. Toms. After high school, Ava plans to attend college and continue her education. Fun facts about Ava include her deep love of all animals and her love for the beach. Ava’s favorite color is blue, and her favorite foods are crab and Twix bars. Ava loves and appreciates her family and has a variety of pets, including a hairless cat, a skink, a frog, a snake, two dogs and eight chickens.

Kerrick Curbow
Kerrick is an eighth grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is a member of the drawing club, and her favorite aspect of Lakewood is the staff members. She appreciates their kindness and willingness to help out whenever needed. After high school, Kerrick plans to attend cosmetology school. Outside of school, she practices gymnastics at the YMCA and enjoys crocheting in her free time. A fun fact about Kerrick is that she loves visiting the beach!

Landon Lovell
Landon is a sixth grader at Lakewood Middle School. At school, He is a member of the Board Game Club. Math is Landon’s favorite subject, he excels at it and currently has 100% in the class. In his free time, Landon loves playing video games and attending church on Wednesdays and Sundays. After graduating high school, Landon has his sights set on becoming a math professor! A fun fact about him is that he has seven pets, five dogs and two cats.
Week 19
Candelaria Sotelo
Candelaria is a seventh grader at Lakewood Middle School and is a member of the wrestling team. Candelaria loves all of her teachers, and appreciates how welcome they make her feel and their warm classroom environments. Candelaria divides her time outside of school between babysitting, spending time with her friends and staying active through sports. After high school, she is aiming to continue her softball career at the University of Nebraska and study to become a doctor or radiologist.
Week 18
Wesley Mahler
Wesley is a seventh grader at Lakewood Middle School. He is a member of the band, jazz band, scholars bowl, math relays, chess club and on the cross country team. His favorite class is jazz band because he enjoys the solo opportunities and playing the fun style of jazz music. Outside of school, Wesley does cross country and is a member of the Salina Youth Jazz Wind Ensemble. After high school, he plans to attend Yale and work towards a masters in biology, followed by a doctorate in paleontology. A fun fact about Wesley is that he has traveled to three different continents.

Santiago Sanchez Avalos
Santiago is an eighth grader at Lakewood Middle School. He is a member of the track team and in his free time he plays basketball. Santiago values everything about Lakewood. He is eager to learn, loves seeing all of his teachers and looks forward to actively participating in each of his classes. Academic success is important to him, as he is focused on achieving his future goal of attending medical school and becoming a surgeon. Some fun facts about Santiago are that he is bilingual, he is fluent in English and Spanish, his family includes himself, his parents and three sisters - and no pets.

Jordan Thompson
Jordan is a sixth grader at Lakewood Middle School. At school, Jordan loves interacting with his peers, conversing with his friends and focusing on excelling as a student. Outside of school, he plays basketball, football and soccer. Jordan is considering various options for the future, but after completing high school, he plans to attend college and continue his education. Some fun facts about Jordan include that his dog has an adventurous appetite and will eat almost anything. He also enjoys spending his free time playing video games and drawing!

Jagger Howard
Jagger is an eighth grader at Lakewood Middle School. He is a member of the band and the Lego Club. Jagger’s favorite classes are weightlifting and P.E. because they give him the opportunity to stay active and have fun while playing games. Outside of school, Jagger attends weekly youth group, enjoys helping out his siblings, playing video games and spending time with his friends. He is the fourth of seven siblings and has four cats and four dogs! After high school, Jagger plans to attend a local college and pursue engineering.

Mikayla Haas |
Mikayla is an eighth grader at Lakewood Middle School who enjoys being a part of Orchestra and vocal programs at her school. She is especially looking forward to a trip with Orchestra to St. Louis next year. Mikayla’s vision for life after high school includes a job and perhaps college. She enjoys diamond art, has two siblings and a dog named Julie.
Week 13
Caroline Hiatt
Caroline is a sixth grader at Lakewood Middle School. At school, she enjoys her English class and spending time with her peers. Outside of school, Caroline dedicates her free time to dancing and is currently in The Sound of Music. Caroline’s future plans include attending the University of Kansas to study interior design. Caroline has one brother, two dogs and has been a vegetarian for two years. She has participated in musicals at Theatre Salina for 10 years and practices a variety of dance styles, including ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, contemporary and hip-hop. She also loves the holiday season, especially Christmas time!

Ana Pena
Ana is a sixth grader at Lakewood Middle School. She loves to learn and looks forward to seeing the Lakewood teachers and staff. After school, Ana helps Mrs. Murphy tidy up her classroom. Outside of school, Ana participates in choir and horseback riding. Her future plans include attending a four-year university and becoming a social worker or crisis therapist. Some fun facts about Ana include that she has two dogs, seven cats and nine siblings (five brothers and four sisters). She is also an aunt to 14 and her favorite meal is chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes and a Big Red.

Uriel Rodriguez Zapata
Uriel is a seventh grader at Lakewood Middle School. At school, Uriel is involved in clubs and plans to join the football team. He appreciates the support his teachers and staff have offered when he has encountered any difficulties or has misunderstood material, Uriel believes this support has significantly enhanced his understanding. A fun fact about Uriel is that he helps his parents run their business.
Week 10
Harper Barten
Harper is a seventh grader at Lakewood Middle School. At school, she participates in vocal and guitar classes and is a member of the reading club. She loves interacting with her peers and teachers. Outside of school, Harper is an active participant at her church, enjoys playing volleyball, riding bikes and spending time outside with her siblings. After high school, Harper plans to pursue a career in the music industry. A fun fact about Harper is that she has two dogs, Bean and Huck.

Aurora Hernandez
Aurora is an eighth grader at Lakewood Middle School. Aurora enjoys her math class and seeing Mrs. Crawford, Mr. Munsell and Coach Cooper at school. Aurora is a member of the cheer team and outside of school she dances, is in Xcel, attends youth group and volunteers. After high school, Aurora plans to study law or go into the medical field. Some fun facts about Aurora are that she loves playing sports, listening to music and cooking for herself.

Tray’von Phillips
Tray’von is a seventh grader at Lakewood Middle School. Tray’von’s favorite part of school is being able to lend a helping hand to any of his peers that may need it. His future aspirations include expanding his platform on YouTube. In his free time Tray’von loves playing games and spending quality time with his brother and sisters outdoors.

Callie VanCourt
Callie is an eighth grader at Lakewood Middle School. She is on the cross country, basketball and track teams, involved in math relays and a member of student council. Outside of school Callie attends youth group, and is involved with Girl Scouts and Winter Soldiers. After high school, Callie plans to attend the University of Kansas and pursue nursing. A fun fact about Callie is that she has three brothers and one dog named Daphne.

Ray Hadorn-Childs
Ray is a sixth grader at Lakewood Middle School. His favorite subject is math as he enjoys challenging himself through solving problems. At school Ray is a member of the band, outside of school Ray plays football, baseball, basketball and pickleball. Ray’s future plans include pursuing education as a career path. A fun fact about Ray is that he plays both the piano and saxophone.

Aiden Benjamin
Aiden is a sixth grader at Lakewood Middle School. Aiden’s favorite part of school is how nice all of his teachers are. At school Aiden is involved in Minute to Win It club. Outside of school he is in Boy Scouts, choir and bowling. Aiden’s future plans include attending college and pursuing art. A fun fact about Aiden is that he likes being creative through storytelling and drawing.

Naomi Huseman
Naomi is a seventh grader at Lakewood Middle School. Naomi plays volleyball and is a member of the civics club. At school, she enjoys seeing Ms. Matthews and her peers. Outside of school, Naomi actively participates in her church and student ministries. After high school, Naomi plans to attend Oral Roberts University to study interior design or veterinary medicine. Naomi has three siblings and a standard poodle named Murphy.

Gabby is a seventh grader at Lakewood Middle School. Gabby is a member of the volleyball team, and outside of school, she stays active by participating in other sports, including softball. Gabby enjoys school and looks forward to interacting with her peers during the day. Her future plans include attending college after high school. A fun fact about Gabby is that she loves cats.

Edman Rodriguez-Dominguez
Edman is an eighth grader at Lakewood Middle School. His favorite subject is math because he enjoys solving problems. Overall, Edman enjoys all of his classes and his teachers as he likes learning new things. Outside of school Edman spends his time playing soccer, spending time with his family and being outside whenever he can be. His future plans include continuing to study, work hard and pursue soccer. Some fun facts about Edman are that he has five siblings and last week he won a first place medal in soccer.

Kayden Hansen
Kayden is an eighth grader at Lakewood Middle School. Kayden’s favorite classes are tech ed because he enjoys building, and weights because he is able to focus on strength training. He is a member of the band and robotics, and outside of school he does color guard. After high school Kayden plans on joining the military. Some fun facts about Kayden are that he enjoys building legos, he is the oldest of five children and he has one pet dog and five cats.
